EK Releases Aluminium-based Fluid Gaming RTX Water Blocks

EK has expanded their Fluid Gaming lineup with a new RTX series water block, a single solution that works with both Nvidia’s RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition models, or any RTX card with a compatible/reference PCB.

The idea behind the fluid gaming series is affordability, bringing water cooling to lower price points while maintaining decent performance levels. Yes, some sacrifices are made in the material selection stage, but the extra value offered will be more than worth the compromise for some.

Instead of relying on copper, EK’s fluid gaming series of water blocks are made using aluminium, which offers a lower level of thermal conductivity. That said, the difference in thermals is a lot lower than this change in conductivity implies, but it forces water coolers to use Aluminium components everywhere else in their system to prevent corrosion. Thankfully, this results in cheaper radiator components and fittings, which is great news for budget water coolers.

EK’s Fluid Gaming Geforce RTX water block will support RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition graphics cards and ship with an integrated addressable RGB lighting solution, which is compliant with ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB fusion, MSI Mystic Light and ASRock Polychrome RGB. Through water cooling, EK’s water block should enable higher boost clock frequencies on RTX series graphics cards, assuming that GPU is connected to a well designed/maintained water cooling loop.

While hardened water coolers may be repulsed by the idea of aluminium components, EK’s Fluid gaming series is designed to be corrosion resistant due to the all-aluminium nature of EK’s Fluid gaming components. While Aluminium does have a lower thermal conductivity than copper, the cooling prowess of EK’s Fluid Gaming products is not hugely affected when compared to their copper counterparts, offering users great value for money.

EK’s Fluid Gaming EK-AC GeForce RTX full cover water block is now available to order, with the block costing €109.90 in Europe. Remember that this water block should only be used with other Fluid Gaming components.
