Frame Generation in all games! AMD updates their Fluid Motion Frames 2 tech

Optimised, and more stable – AMD updates their Fluid Motion Frames 2 Preview

AMD has released an updated version of their Fluid Motion Frames 2 (AFMF2) Preview. This new version adds optimisations and stability fixes to AMD’s second-generation driver-level Frame Generation technology.

AFMF2 allows driver-level frame generation on all DirectX 11, DirectX 12, Vulkan, and OpenGL games. Additionally, it offers improved image quality and reduced latency over its original Fluid Motion Frames driver technology.

This new preview driver release coincides with the release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, a game that lacks Frame Generation support at launch. While AMD FSR 3 and Nvidia DLSS 3 support is planned, AMD’s Driver-Level Fluid Motion Frames tech is the only way to use frame generation with this highly anticipated release. AMD claims this new preview driver contains “improvements for Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2”. We have tested this driver with Space Marine 2, and can confirm that it works as intended.

AMD’s new preview driver for Fluid Motion Frames 2 is available to download here. This preview driver will be updated over time, and the technology within should be available as part of AMD’s mainstream Radeon GPU drivers later this year. Furthermore, AMD has confirmed that a new version of FSR 3 will be released soon. FSR 3 is AMD’s higher quality, game-integrated frame generation and upscaling technology. Undoubtedly, AMD is planning a major Radeon Software push for late 2024.
