FRONTIER Reveals Minimum VR Specs for Elite Dangerous horizons
Â
Frontier developments has announced the Minimum VR specifications for their upcoming Horizons Expansion for Elite Dangerous.Â
These specifications are much higher than the games usual requirements, which is expected given the fact that VR needs to be at a stable 90FPS over two screens to provide the user with a smooth experience which does not induce sickness.Â
Â
Frontier development shave also announced that they will be adding support for the HTC Vive/ Steam VR Head Mounted Display (HMD) to the title as a free update and that they will be updating their support for Oculus Rift from Software Development Kit (SDK) 0.6 to version 1.0 of the SDK when it releases later this month. Â
In VR we see the CPU requirements remain the same, but the memory and the GPU requirements rise from 8GB to 16GB on the memory side and from a GTX 770 to a GTX 980 on the GPU side, which is a very significant change. This is expected given the complexity of VR and the high resolutions and framerates it demands. Sadly we were not provided with a AMD recommended GPU for VR.Â
