GDDR5X-based Gigabyte GTX 1060 G1 Gaming D5X 6G revealed
First-off, we have Gigabyte’s GTX 1060 G1 Gaming D5X 6G edition, which features a cooler design which is unlike any of the company’s other GTX 1060 models. This graphics card will feature a large triple-fan cooler over a 2-slot heatsink design which has integrated RGB illumination (for the “Gigabyte” and “Fan Stop” logos on the side) and an orange/black colour scheme elsewhere.Â
A single 8-pin PCIe power connector will power Gigabyte’s GTX 1060 G1 Gaming D5X 6G graphics card, making it similar to other high-end GTX 1060 models. At this time we have not received word on the graphics card’s final clock speeds.Â
Looking at the rear of this graphics card we can see a full-cover back plate and what appears to be space for an SLI connector, hinting at this graphics card’s potential GP-104 origins. Nvidia’s GTX 1060 GDDR5X graphics cards may be based on the same silicon as the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080. Â
Nvidia’s GDDR5X-based GTX 1060 graphics cards will offer the same CUDA core count as other GTX 1060 models (1280), which should give this new graphics card the same amount of raw compute performance. as standard GDDR5-based models. Â
On the rear I/O, we can see that Gigabyte’s GTX 1060 G1 Gaming D5X 6G will support three DisplayPort 1.4 ports, a single HDMI 2.0b port and a single DVI-D connection, which should be more than enough to power any modern display configuration.Â
 Â
At this time it is unknown when Nvidia plans to release their GDDR5X-based GTX 1060 series graphics cards, or what pricepoint Nvidia is aiming for with this new series of graphics cards.Â
