LG’s UltraGear GX9 45GX990A is the world’s first bendable 5K2K OLED monitor
LG reveals two new 45-inch 5K2K Ultrawide monitors ahead of CES 2025
Ahead of CES 2025, LG has revealed their new UltraGear GX9 series of curved OLED monitors, which includes several 5K2K models. What’s 5K2K? The simple way of thinking about it is that it is an ultrawide 4K monitor or a resolution upgrade for 3440×1440 screens. These screens will have a resolution of 5120 x 2160 and a screen size of 45 inches.
While LG did not confirm this in their press release, both screens should feature 240Hz refresh rates at their maximum resolution. We reported this when we discussed LG’s OLED monitor plans for CES earlier this month. LG has confirmed that both models will feature WOLED panels and DisplayPort 2.1 support.
LG’s new 45-inch 5K2K OLED monitors are the UltraGear 45GX990A and the UltraGear 45GX950A. Both screens have a 21:9 aspect ratio and feature LG’s WebOS, making them “Smart” monitors. Basically, LG is giving their monitors the same features as their “Smart” TVs.
The UltraGear 45GX990A is the world’s first bendable 5K2K OLED monitor
The primary difference between the UltraGear 45GX990A and the UltraGear 45GX950A is that the 45GX990A is a bendable OLED monitor. This means that users can easily use this screen in curved or flat configurations and move between the two. Both monitors will reportedly feature LG’s “upgrade Dual Mode”, which may allow users to run this monitor at higher refresh rates at lower resolutions.
LG’s UltraGear 45GX950A will have a fixed 800R curvature but otherwise be mostly identical to LG’s UltraGear 45GX990A.
We expect to hear more about these new LG OLED monitors at CES 2025. At CES, full specifications for both monitors will be revealed. We expect other companies to adopt the same screen technologies in their newest OLED monitors.
