MSI, ASUS, Galax and more are making new RTX 3060 12GB GPUs – report claims
Nvidia’s RTX 3060 12GB will resume production in June, report claims
According to a new post on Board Channels (via Videocardz), Nvidia’s RTX 3060 12GB graphics card could return to production in June. The report claims that Nvidia partners like Colorful, ASUS, MSI, and Galax plan to produce new RTX 3060 graphics cards, with mass production starting in July. This backs up a prior report about the RTX 3060’s alleged return to the GPU market.
Supply for Nvidia’s RTX 3060 is said to be “relatively limited”, and this is part of a “strategic adjustment” by Nvidia to meet current market demands. This will cater to gamers who need a reasonably priced GPU with plenty of VRAM. That said, it remains to be seen how well-priced these GPUs will be.
If this report is true, Nvidia will be reviving a 2021 product in 2026. In a sense, this showcases how well the RTX 3060 12GB has aged. On the other hand, it highlights how supply-constrained Nvidia is within today’s GPU market. To put it simply, Nvidia wouldn’t be doing this unless it felt it needed to.

Why revive the RTX 3060 12GB?
While Nvidia’s RTX 3060 12GB was a popular GPU when it launched, it doesn’t offer gamers the modern GeForce RTX feature set. As an RTX 30-series GPU, it lacks support for DLSS Frame Generation and Multi-Frame Generation. It’s also less capable when using Nvidia’s DLSS Transformer-based upscaling models, at least compared to newer RTX 40/50 series GPUs.
What’s important for Nvidia is that Nvidia’s RTX 40 and RTX 50 series GPUs both use TSMC 4nm silicon. Producing new RTX 40-series GPUs would divert production capacity from Nvidia’s newer GPUs. Since Nvidia’s RTX 30 series uses Samsung’s 8nm node, it can be built without impacting RTX 50 series supply.
While reviving the RTX 3060 12GB is a strange move for Nvidia, desperate times call for desperate measures. This move could help alleviate GPU shortages. That said, Nvidia’s RTX 3060 12GB is an old GPU by today’s standards. While it has plenty of VRAM for modern games, it’s less powerful than Nvidia’s newer RTX 4060 and RTX 5060 GPUs in terms of compute.
