MSI pushes the limits of OLED monitor tech at CES 2025
MSI pushes DisplayPort 2.1 support with their latest OLED gaming displays
MSI has refreshed their OLED monitor lineup with new 80 Gbps DisplayPort 2.1 models, enabling support for ultra-high refresh rates without requiring Display Stream Compression (DSC). This has made MSI ready for the launch of Nvidia’s RTX 50 series graphics cards, which will be the first GeForce GPUs to support DisplayPort 2.1. Additionally, Nvidia’s RTX 50 series GPUs will make ultra-high framerate gaming more viable through their use of DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation.
For 4K gaming, MSI has launched their MPG 322URX QD-OLED monitor. This new screen is a 31.5-inch monitor that supports 4K at 240Hz. This screen uses a 3rd Gen QD-OLED panel and is both VESA DisplayHDR400 and ClearMR 13000 certified. As such, this screen promises strong HDR support, ultra deep blacks, and superb motion clarity.
For gamers who prefer ultra-high refresh rates, MSI has their 27-inch MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50. MSI markets this screen as the worldâs first 500Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor. This monitor supports 1440p resolutions at 500Hz.
This is not only the first 500Hz Quantum Dot OLED monitor but also the first monitor (that we know of) to be VESA ClearMR21000 certified. VESA launched its ClearMR 21000 specification last month, and MSI has already passed this challenging test. As such, users can expect excellent motion clarity from this high-refresh-rate monitor.
The MSI MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 also boasts a VESA DipslayHDR True Black 500 certification, a 3-year OLED warranty, and a G-Sync Compatible certification. Furthermore, it features MSIâs OLED Care 2.0 technologies, which minimise burn-in risk.
Both of these new monitors from MSI feature the company’s OLED Care 2.0 technologies and an improved screen cooling solution. This minimises the risk of burn-in and ensures that these monitors will be suitable for long-term use. Both screens are backed up by a three-year warranty, which covers burn-in.
