MSI Unveils RTX 5080 Expert and RTX 5090 SUPRIM TITANIUM Edition GPUs at Computex

MSI’s Expert series has returned with a new RTX 5080 incarnation

When MSI launched its RTX 50 series graphics cards, I was disappointed we didn’t see new Expert series graphics cards. I fell in love with the MSI Expert series when it was revealed last year, and I am glad to see that the series has returned for Nvidia’s RTX Blackwell generation with an RTX 5080-based variant.

Below, we have MSI’s original Expert series graphics card, which is an RTX 4080 model. Now, MSI has unveiled its RTX 5080 Expert, and while it retains the same core design, there are some key differences between MSI’s old and new Expert graphics cards.

For starters, the patterned design on the right of Nvidia’s RTX 4080 Expert has been made much less busy with its RTX 5080 incarnation. Honestly, my first thought was that Mercadies gave MSI a telling off for using that design. However, it is more likely that MSI has opted for its new design to increase airflow efficiency. After all, the RTX 5080 has a higher TDP than an RTX 4080.

That’s not Gold, that’s Titanium!

Next up, we have MSI’s RTX 5090 SUPRIM TITANIUM Edition SOC graphics card. While the GPU looks good, the metal used here is treated titanium. Even the backplate has the same chemically etched effect.

This GPU is quite striking in person and satisfyingly weighty in hand. Yes, we held it, and yes, we were told off for doing so.

MSI could not tell us if they had any plans for matching motherboards or other matching hardware. That said, this is a centrepiece GPU, and a full system with this kind of hardware would look overly busy. If we were to use it, we would vertically mount this GPU somewhere prominent and make it the centre of attention.

Sadly, we do not know the pricing of this Special Edition RTX 5090 graphics card. That said, it’s a premium RTX 5090, it’s gonna cost a lot.
