MSI’s Ultrawide 5K Prestige PS341WU Display is now available to Pre-order

Did you ever wish that your 4K monitor was a little wider? No? Well, MSI has! The company’s professional-grade 5K Prestige PS341WU monitor offers the same 2160 vertical resolution as 4K, but with some additional screen space to each side with a vertical resolution of 5120. Please note that this screen only offers a 5K horizontal resolution, as true 5K is 5120×2880 (4x1440p).

This screen first made a splash at CES 2019 and later appeared at Computex, with MSI listing a $1,299.99 price tag and support for a lot of advanced features. Now, the US retailer B&H has the screen available for-pre-order with a price tag of $1,199.99 ($100 lower than expected), and the screen ships with a free $200 voucher for the retailer. The screen has a listed shipping date of September 16th.

So what’s special about this screen? Outside of its resolution it is a DisplayHDR 600 display, offers 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and has a DetlaE calibration value of under 3, making the screen ideal for professional use. The unit itself also uses a nano IPS screen and supports a 4-way picture-by-picture mode, which basically turns this screen into four 2560×1080 monitors.

Users of this monitor can switch between two colour modes, and AdobeRGB mode, which offers 92-93% colour coverage, or an sRGB mode, with these modes being switchable via the screen’s OSD or via a button on the rear of the display.

When it comes to connectivity, this screen supports dual HDMI 2.0 inputs, a single DisplayPort 1.4 connector. The screen also offers users a 60Hz refresh rate and a 5ms g2g response time.
