No, AMD isn’t discontinuing their reference RX 5700 graphics cards
This denial came after the website Cowcotland claimed that AMD’s reference Navi graphics cards had reached their End Of Life (EOL). This claim is laughable given the fact that these graphics cards have only been available for less than a month, but when combined with this website’s track record, these rumours are easily dismissed.
Back in June, the same website reported that AMD’s Radeon RX 5700 XT Anniversary Edition would only be available in the US/China, claiming that there was no European availability. This proved to be false as AMD expanded their webstore to cover more countries. This marks the second time this site has been wrong regarding Radeon Navi graphics cards.
AMD’s Scott Herkelman did confirm that the company was transitioning its AIB partners to their own custom Navi board/cooler designs. Even so, such a transition doesn’t mean that reference models are EOL. While reference models from the likes of ASUS, Sapphire, Gigabyte, MSI and ASRock will disappear from retail, AMD remains committed to providing reference models on its own website and via specific OEMs and retail partners.
