Oculus reduces Rift Touch bundle price to £399 in the UK

One of the main stumbling blocks between VR and mainstream adoption is pricing, especially when bundled with motion control solutions. Before now, the HTC Vive ships for around £758.99 in the UK, with the Oculus Rift Touch (3D VR motion controllers) costing £598.

Oculus has revealed a 6-week long promotional period, where newcomers to VR can purchase an Oculus Rift for £399, which is a £199 saving. This is a significant saving, though it comes at an awkward time for Oculus, who are currently battling Zenimax over the right to sell their Rift headset.

This pricing gives the Oculus Rift similar pricing to Sony’s PS4 Pro and Microsoft’s Xbox One X, giving this device a “console-like” price point, which will no doubt be attractive to gamers.

Oculus states that this price decrease is only temporary, with pricing returning to normal levels after six weeks.
