Philips reveals their Curved 32:9 49-inch 492P8 Ultrawide display Â
Philips has officially announced their new Brilliance series 492P8 curved Ultrawide display, bringing with it an upgraded resolution when compared to its original IFA unveiling last year. Â
This new display will offer an ultrawide 32:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 5120×1440, an upgrade over the monitor’s previously announced 3840×1080 resolution, marking an almost 2x increase in pixel count.
This display will use a 1800R curved VA panel with a maximum brightness of 600 nits, supporting HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C and VGA inputs. At this time the exact pricing of this display is unknown, though it is currently set to release in Q4 of this year.Â
 Â
Philips has not stated whether or not this display will support any of today’s variable refresh rate standards, which means that the display definite lacks support for G-Sync, though FreeSync support should be possible.
