Philips has officially announced their new Brilliance series 492P8 curved Ultrawide display, bringing with it an upgraded resolution when compared to its original IFA unveiling last year.

This new display will offer an ultrawide 32:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 5120×1440, an upgrade over the monitor’s previously announced 3840×1080 resolution, marking an almost 2x increase in pixel count.

This display will use a 1800R curved VA panel with a maximum brightness of 600 nits, supporting HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C and VGA inputs. At this time the exact pricing of this display is unknown, though it is currently set to release in Q4 of this year.

Philips has not stated whether or not this display will support any of today’s variable refresh rate standards, which means that the display definite lacks support for G-Sync, though FreeSync support should be possible.
