Prototype Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti GPU found in “junk computer bin”
Nvidia prototype GPU discovered in a bin with 4-slot design and right-angled PCB
A Reddit user called This_Explanation_514 (via Videocardz) has claimed to have found a prototype Nvidia graphics card inside a “junk computer bin.” This GPU is widely believed to be an RTX 4090 Ti or RTX TITAN prototype. Nvidia never released this GPU, though images of its heatsink have leaked on several occasions.
Moderators on the Nvidia subreddit deleted the original Reddit post on this GPU, though some images of the GPU remain online. Currently, it is unknown if this GPU is functional. Regardless, this is a very interesting hardware find. Above, we can see a clear image of this GPU’s strange PCB design. Note that the GPU sits at a right angle to its PCIe PCB, giving the GPU a highly unusual design.
Nvidia’s RTX 4090 has a lot of untapped silicon, and that untapped silicon gave Nvidia an opportunity to release a GPU with a significant performance uplift. Given their lack of competition in the high-end GPU market, Nvidia saw to reason to launch an RTX 4090 Ti. As such, this prototype was never made into a shipping product.

This Nvidia Prototype is HUGE!
This unorthodox GPU design has advantages. For starters, the right-angled nature of its main PCB allows the entire heatsink to have a flow-through design. This enables increased airflow through this GPU’s heatsink and enhanced cooling performance. Given that this GPU reportedly had a TDP of 600W, it makes sense for this Nvidia prototype graphics card to feature an upgraded heatsink design.

The person who found this graphics card has stated that they have not tried to use the GPU inside a PC yet. The original post about this GPU was removed from the Nvidia subreddit last week. Will this Redditor release further images of this GPU, or will the results of their testing be revealed? Who knows… For all we know, Nvidia may have contacted them and re-acquired their prototype GPU. We will report on this GPU again if we learn more.
