Samsung/MSI V-Stripe QD-OLED monitor leaks ahead of CES unveiling
We’ve finally gotten our first look at Samsung’s new QD-OLED V-Stripe tech
The German website prad.de has accidentally leaked a first-look article on MSI’s upcoming MPG 341CQR X36 QD-OLED monitor. While the article has now been deleted, gamers quickly posted many of its images on Reddit, giving us an early look at an MSI screen with Samsung QD-OLED V-Stripe technology.
Based on the screen’s X36 name, we know this monitor supports a maximum refresh rate of 360 Hz. This matches what Samsung has confirmed about its new QD-OLED V-Stripe displays.

Below, we can see Samsung’s V-Stripe OLED pixel layout. We can see that each pixel’s Red, Green, and Blue subpixels are aligned vertically. Previously, Samsung’s OLED screens had these pixels arranged in a triangular layout. Samsung’s new layout aligns with the pixel expectations of OS’ like Windows, allowing this new OLED panel type to display sharper text with less colour fringing.
Thanks to Samsung’s new pixel layout, OLED displays are not much more suitable for coders, developers, writers, and anyone who edits documents.

MSI has also confirmed that it will showcase its upcoming MEG X QD-OLED “AI Gaming” monitor at CES 2026. We expect this new MSI monitor to also feature Samsung’s new V-Stripe OLED panel. Expect to learn more about these new gaming monitors next week at CES.
