Sony has officially sold over 1 million PSVR headsets

Sony has announced two major milestones for the PlayStation brand, confirming that they have sold over 60 million PS4 consoles worldwide and over 1 million PSVR headsets. On the VR side, this means that PSVR has been adopted by less than 2% of Sony’s userbase, which isn’t terrible given the age of this new device.

E3 2017 is approaching and there Sony is expected to showcase additional PSVR titles, as well as new PlayStation Pro enhanced games. Many are also expecting a price reduction for the PS4 Pro and standard PS4 in response to Microsoft’s Project Scorpio unveiling.

Demand has been so high for PS4 consoles that Sony has had shortages of both PS4 Pro consoles and PSVR headsets, though the company has now ramped up production of both products in response.

Microsoft has long stopped releasing sales information for the Xbox One console, confirming that their sales are not as impressive as Sony’s PS4 console, though the company does hope to claw back some market share with the release of the Xbox Scorpio later this year.
