Sony has sold over 900,000 PSVR units worldwide, with several experts suggesting that the headset has sold better than both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive combined.

Right now it is expected that PSVR will sell over 1 million units by April of this year, with many stores running out of stock frequently, especially in Japan. It has been estimated by SuperData that the HTC Vive has sold over 420,000 units and that the Oculus Rift has sold over 243,000 units.

In recent months it was also announced that 10% of Resident Evil 7 players on PS4 played the game on PSVR, accounting for a large portion of that game’s playerbase.

Recently Sony has also shown off their new gun-shaped VR Aim controller, which is set to release on May 16th alongside the game Farpoint.

So far Sony has expected the adoption of PSVR to be a lot smaller, though it is clear that PSVR has been a huge sucess for Sony, becoming the world’s largest VR platform.
