Steam VR Developer showcase to take place on January 28th
Â
Valve will be holding their Steam VR Developer showcase to take place on January 28th, showcasing some SteamVR Titles and experiences. The even will be taking place in Seattle
The event will be invite only and a Valve employee, Chet Faliszek, has confirmed that the event will only be showcasing selected 3rd party VR experiences and not any Valve made content.Â
Â
Just to clarify for everyone, the content showcase is about highlighting select 3rd party experiences. Valve is not showing content there.

IGN has recently opened a competition where residents of the US can win access to this event, with one lucky person winning the most recent version of the HTC Vive developer kit and access to all demo content from the event.Â
What is most interesting is that the Developer kit and Demo access has been given a total estimated Retail value of $1000, which white it is not a confirmation of the retail price, it is the first indication of a price that we have seen so far for the HTC Vive.
The Vive will be shipping with it’s motion controllers out of the box and has more advanced motion sensing technology than the Oculus Rift, so it is expected that the HTC Vive will be more expensive than the Oculus Rift.
