XeSS 1.3.1 has arrived in 3DMARK for testing

The latest version of Intel XeSS has arrived in 3DMARK for testing

3DMARK isn’t just a benchmarking utility, it is a testing ground where gamers and developers can see the benefits of the latest gaming technologies. 3DMARK currently has feature tests for all major DirectX 12 Ultimate Features, and support for a huge number of upscalers. Now, Intel XeSS 1.3.1 has arrived in 3DMARK, allowing owners of Intel and non-Intel gaming hardware to see the AI upscaler in action.

This updated XeSS test arrives on the same day at Intel’s Lunar Lake CPU launch. With Lunar Lake comes the arrival of Intel’s Xe2 graphics architecture, which has made Intel’s built-in graphics the best available in the market.

XeSS 1.3.1 launched earlier this year, acting as a minor update to XeSS 1.3. With XeSS 1.3, Intel has boosted the quality of their AI upscaler while also making it run faster. That means that XeSS now delivers better looking results and higher framerates than before. In 3DMARK, users can now test and compare TAA, XeSS 1.0, XeSS 1.2, and XeSS 1.3.1. All of XeSS’ quality modes are also available for testing.

Currently, XeSS is one of the best AI upscaling solutions available. typically it delivers results that are comparable to Nvidia DLSS and better than AMD FSR 2/3. With Lunar Lake now offering industry-leading integrated graphics, XeSS adoption in games is set to explode. If Intel can carry on this success with their Xe2 discrete graphics, we can expect to see a lot more of XeSS in the future.
