G.Skill launches DDR5 EXPO ULL memory kits with HUGE price premiums
G.Skill launches its first AMD EXPO ULL DDR5 memory modules
At Computex 2026, AMD unveiled EXPO Ultra Low Latency (ULL), a new version of the AMD EXPO standard that allows DRAM manufacturers to release DDR5 memory kits with tighter timings. G.Skill has now officially released its first DDR5 EXPO ULL memory kits. These kits deliver new low-latency timings that can further boost performance over their existing AMD EXPO memory modules.
When AMD unveiled EXPO, they claimed that ULL modules can deliver up to 4% higher gaming performance than standard AMD EXPO modules. This was with an AMD Ryzen 7 9700X CPU. This applied to both average and 1st percentile framerates. This highlights how DDR5 ULL modules can minimise framerate dips and maximise gaming framerates.
Huge price premiums over standard Trident Z5 Neo memory kits
Tom’s Hardware has compared the pricing of G.Skill’s new Trident Z5 NeoX EXPO ULL memory kits to their older Trident Z5 Neo counterparts. At the high end, the price difference between G.Skill’s ULL and non-ULL modules is significant (up to 79% higher). On the lower end, the price difference is much smaller (10-14%).
Ultimately, the price difference between ULL and non-ULL memory comes down to memory binning and how aggressively G.Skill bins its DRAM modules. Tighter memory timings require more extensive binning, and G.Skill clearly places a high value on this process.

| 2x16GB DDR5 CL26 | $699.99 (26-36-36-96) | $1,099.99 (26-36-36-32) | +57% |
| 2x16GB DDR6 CL28 | $559.99 (28-36-36-96) | $999.99 (28-36-36-32) | +79% |
| 2x16GB DDR6 CL30 | $544.44 (30-38-38-96) | $619.99 (30-38-38-32) | +14% |
| 2x16GB DDR6 CL36 | $499.99 (36-36-36-96) | $549.99 (36-36-36-76) | +10% |
DDR5 EXPO ULL memory modules require AMD motherboards with supported BIOS versions to utilise their EXPO ULL speeds. Without BIOS support, these modules will run with standard EXPO timings and lack the benefits of tighter ULL timings.
At Computex, AMD stated that they believed that EXPO ULL memory modules would cost the same as non-ULL modules. While that may be true in the future, it isn’t true now. At the high end, G.Skill is charging a premium for its highly binned DRAM modules, but at the lower end, DDR5 ULL modules are already priced fairly similarly to their existing counterparts. As more memory manufacturers produce DDR5 EXPO ULL modules, the price difference between ULL and non-ULL memory modules may evaporate, and non-ULL modules may become less common.
