Amazon commissions two seasons of God of War for Prime Video
Amazon has “ordered” two seasons of a God of War series for Prime Video
It looks like Amazon has started work on a God of War series for Prime Video, ordering two Seasons of the videogame adaptation. Ronald D. Moore, who previously worked on Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, and Outlander, claims to be working on the series. The fact that two seasons have been commissioned is a sign that Amazon has faith in the show. However, a report from Deadline claimed last year that the show was “starting over.”
Below is what Ronald D. Moore had to say about his work on the series on The Sackoff Show.
Right now I’m working on the adaptation of this video game called God of War. Tt’s a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of. They asked me to come in, I’m literally in the writer’s room and I’m working on that, that’s my new thing.

Prime Video first greenlit its God of War series in 2022. Since the show is still in its writing stage, its initial development clearly didn’t go well. The show is a collaboration between Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM Studios. The show’s “reset” reportedly came after showrunner/executive producer Rafe Judkins, along with EPs Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus left the project.
Since the show is still in its writing stage, God of War fans shouldn’t expect to see this show anytime soon.
