Early Steam Controller review leaks pricing

Valve Steam Controller pricing leaks

An early review of Valve’s Steam Controller has been released and swiftly taken down by the YouTuber TechyTalk, unveiling the controller’s pricing ahead of its official launch. Based on the leaked review, the controller will cost $99 in the US, making it more expensive than standard PS5 or Xbox Series X/S gamepads.

In the review, TechyTalk detailed the controller’s features, including its dual trackpads, magnetic TMR thumbsticks, HD rumble, gyro, and back-button features. With these features, this is undoubtedly a premium controller. That said, it is less expensive than Sony’s DualSense Edge or Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers.

Based on this leak and recent SteamDB data dumps, it is likely that Valve will release its Steam Controller in the very near future. Currently, it is unknown how much the controller will sell for outside of the US. For the UK, my guess is that this controller will cost around £85. This assumes this early review is correct with its $99 price tag.

When Valve unveiled its Steam controller, we expected it to launch alongside Valve’s new Steam Machine. However, the global RAM shortage has forced Valve to delay its Steam Machine and Steam Frame VR headset. This may have forced Valve to reconsider its Steam controller launch plans, pushing its launch ahead of its other new products. Since this product doesn’t require RAM, its launch does not need to be affected by the AI-fueled global memory crisis. As such, it’s likely that Valve’s new controller will launch ahead of Valve’s Steam Machine.
