Elgato brings DSLR quality to creators with its Facecam 4K webcam
Elgato delivers 4K quality, DSLR features, and 60 FPS support with its newest Ultra HD webcam
Elgato has officially launched its new Facecam 4K webcam, aiming to deliver a DLSR-like 4K experience to mainstream creators. With its uncompressed 4K 60 FPS support, its Sony Starvis 2 sensor, and support for 49mm lens filters, this is a high-end webcam that aims for broadcast-quality visuals.
With Elgato’s Camera Hub software, users can tune the look of their Facecam 4K with a “DSLR-style” control system. Users will be able to utilise a suite of cinematic effects and augment their creative possibilities. Support for commonly available 49mm camera lens filters is also a neat perk.
Elgato’s asking price of £179.99 is high for a webcam. That said, what Elgato’s promising here is more akin to a custom DSLR setup than a traditional webcam. Elgato has condensed what was once a costly DSLR webcam setup into an easy-to-use and relatively affordable camera setup.
With its new Facecam 4K, Elgato is delivering high-resolution visuals with a premium prime lens, 60 FPS support, and strong image processing. With Elgato’s software, users will be able to adjust this webcam’s settings to perfectly suit their needs, and even use curated presets from Elgato’s marketplace. There’s even an “realistic background filter” option for Nvidia RTX GPU users.
If you want to take your streaming setup to the next level, but don’t want the cost and complexity of a DSLR setup, the Facecam 4K appears to be a solid option. A high quality streaming cam that doesn’t break the bank.
