GameStop promise replacements after retail staff staples Switch 2 screens

Switch 2 users received units with damaged screens as GameStop employees stapled receipts to their systems

Console releases are rare, and day-1 system purchasers are no doubt excited to get their hands on the latest and greatest gaming hardware. Sadly, some Switch 2 purchasers have received damaged systems, as GameStop employees have stapled receipts to their Switch 2 boxes, punchering their handheld’s screen.

Thankfully, this incident was limited to a single GameStop location in New York. Below, we can see a user with an affected Switch 2 console. Thankfully, the system is still usable, but the damage is easy to notice.

GameStop’s confirmed that they have “addressed a unique case of staples damaging Switch 2 screens.” Furthermore, they said that the issue was exclusive to a single store. Additionally, the company has offered replacement systems to the affected Switch 2 purchasers. “Staplers have been confiscated.”

So far, Nintendo’s Switch 2 launch has passed by without many issues. Gamers are playing their systems, and aside from issues like GameStop’s staple incident, early purchasers appear to be having a good experience. Can Switch 2 live up to the success of its predecessor? That’s unclear.
