Sony’s PlayStation 5 console is larger than all of its predecessors, so much so that it cannot fit into most entertainment units without looking the console look oversized or your media unit look too small.

If there is one thing to be said about Ikea, it’s that they know how to sell furniture. To help their customers deal with the insane size of Sony’s PlayStation 5 console, and to a lesser extent the size of Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, Ikea has created faux-consoles for their stores, allowing gamers to compare the size of their media cabinets to the world’s newest games consoles.

On these fake consoles, Ikea has listed the dimensions of both next-generation systems, allowing customers to see how the size of these systems compare to the company’s furniture offerings. That’s a clever retail strategy, especially when many gamers will be updating their entire media centre to accommodate these new consoles. If you are buying a new console and a 4K-ready TV, why not update your media cabinet as well?

The image below comes to us via @NickdeBruyne on Twitter, who saw these faux consoles at a local Ikea store. Ikea calls the PlayStation 5 “meme-ishly oversized” on these fake systems, a factor that likely prompted Ikea to make these placeholder consoles in the first place.
