Lego Super Mario will arrive later this year

Right now, very little is known about Lego’s Mario playsets, though it looks like it will come in the form of a real-world custom level creator.  Based on the video below sets will allow children to create custom levels and run their Lego Mario through a set of unique adventures. 

What makes Lego Mario unique is his model, which features three LED screens and a selection of sensors to time your actions, react to specific blocks, and a built-in speaker to play Mario’s iconic theme tune and allow Mario to react to players vocally.   

When speaking about the collaboration, Nintendo’s Takashi Tezuka the following. “The new product we created together with the LEGO Group seeks to combine two different styles of play – one where you freely build the world of Mario and the other where you play with Mario in the very world that you have created.” At this time it is unknown how much these new Lego Mario sets will cost, of exactly when they will hit store shelves.
