Netflix’s The Witcher series receives its Main Trailer and a release date

Netflix has confirmed that its 8-part “The Witcher” series will release on December 20th as part of the series’ latest trailer, giving fans of the series enough time to plan their inevitable binging sessions.

The Witcher will star Henry Cavil as Geralt of Rivia, the series’ protagonist and will be based on The Witcher book series of the same name. This means that the series will not follow any of the events of CD Projekt Red’s game series, which is arguably more famous than the novels at the time of writing.

The first four episodes of the series will be directed from Alik Sakharov, who directed House of Cards, while the remaining four episodes are split between Garcia Lopez and Charlotte Brandstrom.

Below is Netflix’ official description of the series;

     Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
