New details released for Netflix’s Bioshock Movie

Netflix’s Bioshock movie will be based on the first game

Netflix is still planning to make a Bioshock movie. New details about the movie have been released, confirming that the film will be based on the first Bioshock game. While this isn’t a confirmation that this movie will be a straight-up adaptation of the game, it implies that the movie will be reasonably faithful to the game.

Netflix wants us to keep everything under wraps. But it’s definitely going to be based on the first ‘BioShock’ game…

Netflix first announced its plan to adapt Bioshock into a feature film in 2022. Francis Lawrence was announced as the film’s director. Bioshock’s movie was reportedly delayed due to scripting issues, allowing Francis Lawrence to move on to “The Long Walk”, which is now in cinemas. Lawrence’s next movie is Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. After this movie, he will be able to work on Bioshock.

Well, ‘The Long Walk’ became a reality because ‘BioShock’ was delayed for a little bit where we had to do some more script work. And so as the script work is being done, we shot ‘The Long Walk,’ and he was already committed to doing the next ‘Hunger Games’ movie. And so it’s just waiting for him whenever the ‘Hunger Games’ is completed, and the script is just being worked on right now.

Current timelines suggest that Bioshock could be in production by late 2026, following the completion of work on the new Hunter Games spin-off. Currently, it is unknown if Netflix’s Bioshock film will be live-action or animated. That said, given Netflix’s choice of director, the movie will likely be live-action.
