Prusa makes its 3D printers better with new Plus-series upgrades
Prusa upgrades its 3D printer lineup to deliver improved quality, speeds, and other improvements
Prusa has just unveiled three new 3D printers, enhanced versions of its Core One, Core One L, and XL 3D printers. These new 3D printer models are available starting today, and owners of the existing models can purchase upgrade kits to benefit from Prusa’s latest hardware upgrades.
Prusa’s new 3D printers are the Core One+ (Gen 2), Core One L+, and XL+. All three models will have the same price as their predecessors, despite their hardware upgrades and new features. Open orders for Prusa’s existing 3D printers (which have not shipped yet) will be upgraded to these new models for free.
One critical upgrade for all three machines is Prusa’s use of GT1.5 belts, which make fine-line artefacts much less noticeable. This improves the quality of 3D-printed parts, giving all three Plus series 3D printer models a notable quality boost.

Prusa Core One+ (Gen 2)
The Core One+ (Gen 2) has the most upgrades. It features a redesigned heatbed mounting system that eliminates the “absorbing heat” step at the start of print jobs for materials like PLA and PETG. This allows 3D printing to start faster, saving users time. For materials that require higher temperatures, this change will shorten this step.
Alongside new GT1.5 belts, this new printer model also includes an integrated nozzle wipe to improve print quality. This feature is already available on the Core One L and Prusa XL. The addition of a new “snap-on top” also allows for easier maintenance.
Prusa Core One L+
For the Core One L+, the only real upgrade that Prusa provides is its new GT1.5 belts. The standard Core One L features many of the design improvements on the Core One + (Gen 2). For this reason, the Core One L+ upgrade kit is incredibly affordable at £22.99.
Prusa XL+
The Prusa XL+ features new GT1.5 belts, a new 360-degree cooling solution, faster toolhead calibration, high-flow nozzles as standard, and a nozzle wiper that improves every print.
The XL+’s new cooling solution helps improve the quality of overhangs, bridges, and small details. The GT1.5 belts improve overall print quality. Additionally, toolheat calibration is now 20x faster, thanks to Prusa’s addition of a permanently mounted sensor.
Over time, Prusa plans to continue supporting its 3D printers with firmware upgrades, enhancements to PrusaSlicer, print profiles, and more. Prusa wants its 3D printers to get better with age. In contrast, many other brands simply abandon their older models after a few years, replacing them with newer versions while offering existing customers no upgrade options.
