Prusa teases Core One 3D printer with INDX-style tool-changer

Josef Prusa grabs popcorn following Bambu Lab H2C reveal

Prusa already has an answer to the Bambu Lab H2C, a printer that promised revolutionary multi-material support with seven hotends. In response to this unveiling, Josef Prusa grabbed popcorn and teased an upcoming Prusa Core One upgrade. It appears that Prusa has its own INDX-style 7-way tool-changing system coming to its Core One series printers.

With this many tool-heads, Prusa can deliver multi-material 3D printing without the need for purging. This can save a massive amount of material. Furthermore, it makes it incredibly easy to use multiple material types and colours. With one material per nozzle, the likelihood of nozzle clogs is greatly reduced. In other words, multi-material 3D printing is about to become a lot more reliable.

A Prusa Core One 3D printer with INDX-like tech?

So far, Prusa has only revealed the above image of their planned Core One upgrade. We can see seven toolheads (T0-T6), and they appear to use a switching system similar to Bondtech’s INDX system. Whether or not Prusa is working with Bondtech is unknown.

Things are heating up within the 3D printing market. Soon, tool-changing solutions will be commonplace, and that will change how 3D printers are used. Multi-colour or material prints will have less waste. Multi-material 3D-printable products will become increasingly accessible. Furthermore, competition between brands will make this tech affordable. The future is bright for the 3D printing market.
