That Works forges iconic Zangetsu sword from Bleach
Bleach’s iconic Zangetsu sword has been forged, and it looks awesome!
Ilya and Matt from THAT Works have successfully forged Zangetsu from Bleach, one of the most iconic swords in Manga and anime. Unlike most large Anime replicas, this large-scale sword was created using the same techniques as traditionally forged swords. This blade isn’t laser-cut from sheet metal with a ground edge. This sword is the real deal, and it looks incredible.
In the video below, you can see a 30-lb hunk of steel become Ichigo’s original Shikai form of Zangetsu. The sword was forged into shape, heat-treated, and ground to deliver a perfect finish. It is big, it is heavy, and it is undoubtedly Zangetsu.
Note that this real-life replica of Zangetsu was made in collaboration with Bandai Namco to celebrate the release of BLEACH: Rebirth of Souls on PC and consoles. Currently, the game has a “Mixed” review rating on Steam. However, the game’s PC stability has reportedly improved since launch, with the game’s newest update being from April 4th.
THAT Works have created an insane number of incredible-looking blades over the years, from custom swords to weapons from Anime like Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and more. If you want to see some awesome weapons projects, THAT Works is a YouTube channel to follow.
