The Nintendo Switch 2 needs a day-1 update to function

Nintendo’s Switch 2 console is unusable without its day 1 update

Nintendo’s Switch 2 console is launching next week, and some gamers have already been able to get their hands on the new console. These users have been quick to discover that their Switch 2 is unusable, as Nintendo’s new console requires a day-1 update to function properly.

The Game Business has also reported that Nintendo’s new console requires a “significant day-one patch” to function. This update is preventing analysts from reviewing the console ahead of launch. This means that there will be no early reviews for Nintendo’s new console ahead of its June 5th release date.

Nintendo’s Switch 2 console is launching next week, and now is the time we would expect first impressions or review videos and articles to go live. With this launch, it almost feels like Nintendo is intentionally trying to minimise hype. This is an unusual decision, given the importance of console sales to their business.

At launch, Switch 2 has an impressive lineup of first-party and 3rd-party titles. This includes games like Mario Kart World, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Cyberpunk 2077.
