Whatsapp now has Two-Step Verification

Whatsapp now has Two-Step verification, adding an additional (optional) security layer to your account which will allow users to set a six-digit passcode which will be required when they attempt to verify their phone number in the future.

To enable two-step verification, open WhatsApp > Settings > Account > Two-step verification > Enable. Optionally users will also be able to link and email address to their account, which will allow them to disable or reset their two-factor authentication passcode if they forget it.

Once activated Whatsapp will periodically ask you for your passcode, allowing users to remember their passcode through frequent use and prevent your phone’s data from being accessed as easily if your phone is stolen.
