YouTuber’s Samsung Galaxy Ring battery expands, requiring hospital removal

Samsung Galaxy Ring battery swells ahead of fight, forcing emergency removal at hospital

The YouTuber ZONEofTECH has informed his followers on Twitter/X that their Samsung Galaxy Ring required emergency removal at a hospital after its battery became swollen. What’s worse is that this happened at an airport ahead of a flight. The YouTuber has denied boarding and was sent to the hospital.

Currently, it is unknown what caused the battery in Daniel’s smart ring to swell. This made the ring impossible to remove by hand. It is currently unclear how the ring was later removed.

On Twitter/X, Daniel stated that he “won’t be wearing a smart ring ever again” following the event. After getting the ring removed, the YouTuber had to book a hotel and get a flight home the following day.

Thankfully, ZONEofTECH’s Galaxy Smart Ring didn’t suffer from a more catastrophic battery failure. Samsung has a history of battery problems, with the company’s Galaxy Note 7 being infamous for its battery issues. That phone had its battery overheat, catch fire, or explode, forcing Samsung to discontinue and recall the product. In this case, the battery only swelled. Samsung has already reached out to Daniel following this event.
