Another The Last of Us Part 1 patch is expected this week

Expect Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy to release a new The Last of Us Part 1 update this week

Naughty Dog has confirmed that they plan to release a new update for The Last of Us Part 1 later this week, and a new PlayStation 5 update for the game tomorrow.

Prior updates for The Last of Us Part 1 on PC have delivered several key improvements to the game, increasing the game’s playability across a range of PC hardware configurations by reducing the game’s VRAM usage (read our patch performance analysis here), a minor boost to CPU performance, and a wide range of bug fixes. Additionally, an Nvidia driver update has reduced instances of crashing on RTX 30 series GPUs.

Currently, Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy appear to be committed to fixing The Last of Us Part 1’s PC version. Currently the companies are investigating ways to reduce the time it takes their game’s shaders to compile, fixes for the game’s camera jitters issue, and overall performance issues within the game.

With patch 1.0.2.0 (see our patch performance analysis here) Naughty Dog has delivered some major fixes to The Last of Us on PC, though it is clear that more work is needed before The Last of Us’ PC version can live up to the standards expected from Naughty Dog.
