DLSS and RTXDI are coming to Star Wars Outlaws at launch – Nvidia confirms

Star Wars Outlaws is gearing up to be Nvidia’s next big RTX showpiece

Are you excited about Star Wars Outlaws? Nvidia are! Star Wars Outlaws is set to be an Nvidia RTX showpiece, supporting practically all of Nvidia’s RTX feature set at launch. The game will support ray tracing on PC with RTXDI (RTX Direct Illumination) and ray-traced global illumination. Nvidia RTX GPU users will benefit from DLSS 3 support, and users of all practically all GeForce GPUs will benefit from the game’s Reflex support.

Nvidia’s RTXDI technology will allow most lights samples within the game to cast accurate physically accurate shadows. DLSS 3 also gives Ubisoft more performance headroom to push the game’s visuals further on PC. This is thanks to the benefits of DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation.

Below is what Star War’s Outlaw’s Technical Director Tobias Carlsson has to say about the game’s use of Nvidia’s RTX technologies.

Here at Massive Entertainment, worldbuilding is a part of our DNA, and what better way to showcase our craft than creating the first-ever open world Star Wars game. Filled with distinct locations across the galaxy’s outer rim, both iconic and new, players will be able to experience the Star Wars underworld like never before. DLSS 3 gives us the performance headroom to bring our vision to life and to support additional ray tracing features, helping gamers fully immerse themselves in the adventures of Kay Vess and Nix.

Star Wars: Outlaws currently lacks a release date. The game is coming to PC and current-generation consoles this year. Nvidia has additionally confirmed that the game will be available on Nvidia’s GeForce Now streaming service at launch.
