Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be Ubisoft Connect exclusive on PC
Two of Ubisoft’s biggest upcoming titles will not be launching on Steam or the Epic Games Store on PC
Based on the company’s marketing materials for both games, Ubisoft will be launching both Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora exclusively though their Ubisoft Connect PC client on PC, which means that neither game will be available on day-1 through competing PC platforms like Steam or the Epic Games Store.
Both games currently list Ubisoft Connect as the only place where both games will be available on PC, while other upcoming Ubisoft games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and The Crew: Motorfest will be available through both the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect on day-1.
While it is probable that both Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be coming to PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store at a later date, it looks like Ubisoft will be using these two game launches to push their Ubisoft Connect client on PC and their Ubisoft+ subscription service.
Ubisoft’s attitude to PC gaming has been strange as of late, with the company launching many of their recent titles like Far Cry 6 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Steam while keeping many of their future releases exclusive to their own Ubisoft Connect PC client. While it makes sense for Ubisoft to push their Ubisoft Connect client from a revenue sharing perspective, it is strange that Ubisoft have seemingly abandoned the Epic Games Store after years of collaboration.
