Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has a framerate cap on PC
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of 2004’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, is coming to PC and consoles on August 28th. Now, through PCGamesN, we can confirm that the game lacks several critical PC features, most of which are expected from all modern PC game releases.
According to PCGamesN’s report, Snake Eater’s remake will feature a capped framerate on PC. The game is locked to 60 FPS, something that will undoubtedly disappoint many PC gamers. This is especially true for gamers with high refresh rate monitors. The game also lacks support for ultrawide screen aspect ratios. These features are expected from modern PC releases. Clearly Konami isn’t taking the PC platform very seriously with this game release.
Since this remake is an Unreal Engine 5 title, it is possible that high framerate support could be enabled by editing the game’s engine.ini file. Sadly, we cannot confirm this ahead of the game’s launch. Konami may make this file encrypted or otherwise uneditable to prevent these kinds of hacks. Regardless, it is a shame that Konami cannot offer PC gamers an unlocked framerate. At a minimum, this game’s PC version should have a higher framerate cap.
On PC, Snake Eater’s remake will require 100GB of SSD storage to play, and an RTX 2060 SUPER (8GB) GPU or better. Note that Nvidia’s RTX 3080 graphics card is recommended. CPU-wise, Intel’s i5-8600 and AMD’s Ryzen 5 3600 processors, or better, are required.
