Modder stuns with Resident Evil HD Remaster 4K Texture pack
Modder makes Resident Evil sharper and more vibrant with a new 4K texture mod
A game modder called “Evgeshajk” has created a new 4K texture mod for Resident Evil HD Remastered, Capcom’s 2014 remake of the first Resident Evil game. This mod increases the game’s texture resolution, making characters and backgrounds much more detailed. This makes the game much more visually pleasing on modern gaming displays.
Alongside a resolution and detail boost, this mod aims to make Resident Evil “more vibrant”. In the video below, you can see the changes. The game now has a less filtered look and a brighter colour palette. The game remains appropriately dark when required, but environments are much more readable, and colour schemes are closer to those in some of the more modern Resident Evil games.
The one controversial aspect of this mod is that it was created using AI tools. These tools enhanced Resident Evil’s original artwork under the modder’s direction. If you hate all forms of AI, you will probably hate this mod. However, it does do a great job enhancing Resident Evil for the modern “4K” era. To say the least, this game may have been more deserving of a modern remake than Resident Evil 4, despire the fact that RE4 is an older game.
Resident Evil HD Remake’s 4K Texture mod is available to download from Nexus Mods. The mod is 15.6GB in size and reworks all of the game’s textures and backgrounds.
