Modern Warfare is gone, there is only Warzone!

Modern Warfare is gone; there is only Warzone!

What happened to Modern Warfare? It has disappeared from Activision Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher? What? Yes, one of the best Call of Duty games is no longer listed on the Battle.net launcher, and it is because of Call of Duty: Warzone.

Instead of being a component of Call of Duty; Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Warzone is now the main component of Call of Duty’s 2019 entry. Modern Warfare is gone; it has been replaced.

While a dedicated Warzone button for Battle.net makes sense given the game’s popularity, the free-to-play battle royale has effectively removed Modern Warfare from the view of gamers. Even with all of their resources, Activision Blizzard cannot separate these games into two launcher options…

On a technical level, this move makes a lot of sense. Warzone sits at the core of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s design. PC gamers can delete Modern Warfare’s campaign and multiplayer modes, but they cannot delete Warzone. If you want to play Call of Duty; Modern Warfare’s campaign or multiplayer modes, you will need a Warzone install, it’s a non-negotiable part of the Modern Warfare experience. With this in mind, it makes sense that Modern Warfare is now displayed as an optional component of Warzone and not the other way around.
