PC now accounts for 54.4% of Capcom game sales
PC is now Capcom’s top gaming platform, surpassing all consoles combined
Capcom’s latest earnings report has revealed that digital PC games now account for 54.4% of the company’s game sales. Today, Capcom sells more games on PC than all consoles combined, making PC the publisher’s dominant platform. Today, digital console game sales account for 35.7% of game sales, with physical game sales accounting for a further 9.9%.
Since FY21, Capcom’s digital PC game sales share has increased from 26.6% to 54.4%. In contrast, digital Console game sales share declined from 50.3% to 35.7%. This explains many recent decisions that Capcom has made, such as bringing Monster Hunter Rise to PC ahead of its release on Xbox and PlayStation. This also explains why Monster Hunter Wilds launched on PC and consoles on the same day.
PC is now a core part of Capcom’s business. Gone are the days when Capcom’s PC releases would be delayed long after a game’s console version, and gone are the days when Capcom would simply skip the PC platform entirely. That said, many of Capcom’s recent game releases have been mired by issues on PC. Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds have performance issues on PC, though post-release patches have improved things somewhat.

PC is now Capcom’s largest platform, and that means that Capcom should take PC gamers more seriously. Hopefully, this means that we will be getting higher-quality PC versions of Capcom games in the future. That said, the success of Monster Hunter Wilds proves that even a bad PC version can generate strong game sales.
