RPCS3 now allows game resolution changes without game restarts
RPCS3 is the best place to play many PlayStation 3 classics. Why? The simple answer is that many PS3 games are playable there with higher resolutions and framerates than their original PS3 versions. That means many PS3 games now look better and run smoother on a modern gaming PC with RPCS3. With strong enough hardware, PC gamers can UpRes PC classics to 4K and beyond. That’s great news considering the sub-1080p nature of most PS3 games.

Game compatibility continues to improve
In January, RPCS3 passed the 70% playability barrier for the first time. Today, 73.44% of PS3 games are now classed as “Playable” on RPCS3. A further 24.80% of games have “Ingame” status, either having serious glitches or insufficient performance to achieve a “playable” rating. That means that less than 2% of PS3 games have an “Intro” or “Loadable” rating.
With Sony’s PlayStation 3 console becoming 20 this year, it has never been more important to have a viable alternative to real PlayStation 3 hardware. Let’s face it, PlayStation 3 consoles won’t be playable indefinitely. RPCS3 plays a vital role in the long-term preservation of the PlayStation 3’s gaming library. If RPCS3 continues improving at its current pace, it won’t be long before all of the game’s biggest hits achieve a playable rating.
