The Remake is dead, but the original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is dirt cheap on GOG

GOG vows to preserve Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Ubisoft may have cancelled its planned remake, but GOG is committed to keeping Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time alive. GOG has committed to adding the game to their “Preservation Program”, ensuring that the game’s original PC version will always be playable. Better still, the game is now available at 79% off on the platform, making it £1.79. For less than the price of a coffee, you can buy the PC version of this gaming classic.

Games on GOG’s Preservation Program have been improved by GOG. They also have a commitment from GOG that ensures that games on the program remain compatible with modern systems. That means patches that improve game stability and, potentially, add new features. This can include cloud game support, better support for modern resolutions, and more.

While Ubisoft has abandoned its remake, GOG is ready to preserve the original. As it stands, the game’s GOG version already runs well on Windows. That said, a stronger commitment to long-term support is always a good thing.
