ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 Review

Despite being a different type of product in the box, there is no doubting at all that the Rapture GT-AC2900 is a ROG product. Everything about the packaging is classic Republic of Gamers, from the clear product shot, stylish colour choices and focus upon the major features that will grab the attention of the strolling enthusiast.

  
  

As you would expect the accessories provided are of a high quality with the router itself, stand, cables and antennae all being a serious step above those you find with your providers hub or, in the case of the aerials, your motherboard. As we’ll soon see the quick start guide is something you’ll definitely need to keep on hand rather than leave in the box in a typical “how hard can it be?” style.

  
  

Once fully assembled the Rapture GT-AC2900 looks like a serious piece of kit. To paraphrase the Old Spice advertisement, take a look at your own router, now back to this, now your own router, now back to this. Who wouldn’t prefer to have this as the centrepiece of their home networking setup instead of that cheap bit of plastic currently occupying a spot in the corner? It looks like it means business and it does.

  

From left to right we have the power button and AC adaptor input, a USB 2.0 port, USB 3.0 port, the WAN input off a Gigabit RJ45, and four Gigabit LAN ports. The keen-eyed amongst you will spot a hole for wall mounting the router if you so desire.
