Corsair HS60 Pro Surround Headset Review

Corsair HS60 Pro Surround Headset Review

Up Close

It wouldn’t be a Corsair product if it didn’t come with an eye-popping acreage of yellow and a clear product shot. Our box took a little bit of a dent in its travels but the quality of the internal packaging means the headset itself was in mint condition.

Within the packaging we find the detachable microphone and a USB adaptor for both enabling the 7.1 surround as well as providing a simple connection solution to your computer.

The HS60 Pro Surround itself combines a long 3.5mm cable able to be plugged into any of the current consoles as well as phones and PCs and, well everything that has a 3.5mm jack socket. With light weight and thick ear pads it should be comfortable to use, and the controls mounted to the headset rather than on an inline remote help keep things readily to hand.

The hinges utilise a design we’ve seen a fair few times before with an all aluminium head band blending into U shaped ear cup holders. This is a proven design that should last for a long time. There is plenty of height adjustment too so you should be able to find a comfortable spot.

The headband combines memory foam padding with eye-catching yellow contrast stitching. It’s a subtle way to maintain the yellow that is the Corsair peripheral brand without dominating proceedings. If you’re particular averse to yellow then there is an all-black model available. We like it though.

As well as the more obvious contrast stitching on the headband padding the ear cups also have a neat row of yellow accent stitches. The ear cups themselves are deeply padded with soft memory foam for a comfortable listening experience. The keen eyed amongst you might also spot the careful way the audio cabling has been routed from the ear piece through the headband.

On the left ear cup we find both the microphone mute button and volume control wheel. It’s nice that they are both within easy reach and yet tactile enough for your thumb to find in a heated moment. Too often the microphone mute button in particular can be a tough thing to locate, but with the HS60 Pro there are none of those issues.

The Discord certified microphone is removable for if you’re taking the HS60 Surround out and about or want to guarantee that you don’t accidentally broadcast your voice to the world by forgetting to mute it when online gaming. The microphone is that desirable combination of flexible and yet robust enough to stay where it’s placed.

Lastly if you wish to take advantage of the virtual 7.1 surround offered by the Corsair HS60 Pro then you’ll need to connect the 3.5mm jack to the supplied USB adaptor. This also helps ease connectivity when using it with a PC as USB ports are more commonly used than 3.5mm audio.
