The hinges are wroks of art. We often mention how hinges are the key component of any headset, and nearly always the first thing to break. The design of the HS80 hinges certainly gives us hope that this won’t be the case during long term usage. The microphone only sits in two places, vertical or horizontal, with no adjustment possible so you can’t accidently eat it and give your team mates plosive headaches.

The headband is robust with a clear Corsair print on the band and a Velcro strap to take the strain. If you look inside the headband you can see the exceptionally well designed adjustment system. It’s a mile ahead of the simple ‘rip and replace’ Velcro adjustment used on other headsets we’ve looked at.

With very deep, plush fabric ear covers the HS80 is extremely comfortable to wear and won’t give you the sweaty ear problem you can sometimes have with leather/synthetic leather coverings.

The lighting on the earpieces is subtle with just a single Corsair ship logo on each, whilst a small ring around the microphone – thankfully you can turn it off so it doesn’t catch your eye when in place – lets you know quickly if it’s muted or not.
