The MSI Immerse GH60 comes in a robust box with a full plastic insert to keep everything in place during transit. You also receive a good selection of additional items with a carry bag and a pair of alternative ear pieces, should you prefer cloth ones to synthetic leather. Both of them have a huge amount of foam inside to ensure maximum comfort, so you really can pick just based upon your preference.
The Immerse GH60 has a very angular design on the ear pieces, with a selection of shades of grey. No, not fifty of them. The shiny steel headband leads into black soft headband and hinges, which themselves give way to dark and light greys of the ear piece connection, all on a background of a silver and black carbon-look weave.
The ear cups are very luxurious. They are large and deep enough to fit the biggest of ears in, whilst the two different ear covers ensure that everyone can have the comfortable solution they prefer. We know that many people would rather have cloth ear pieces instead of the synthetic leather option, so it’s nice of MSI to include both types. Choice is always good.
We like the mesh effect at the back of the Immerse GH60. We know this is used as the basis of the RGB lighting on the GH70, but it also works as an unlit option as seen here. The rest of the aesthetic reminds us of 70s tower blocks. Very angular, and even the famous MSI Dragon logo looks like an afterthought. Fortunately for MSI external looks of a headset are of minimal importance.
The Immerse GH60 utilises the steel band style of headband with a suspended band on your head. This makes it very easy to get your headset at the right height every time rather than fighting with the hinges, although if you find it ends up too high or too low it doesn’t give you any options to solve the problem.
Speaking of the hinges, the ones on the GH60 are utilitarian at best. The plastics feel somewhat cheap and scratchy and look like they were designed by somebody who’d lost their compass and only had a set square. The microphone has a similar square aesthetic. It might be effective but my goodness does it look like the kind of microphone you’d find on a no-brand eBay headset rather than something from a premium company like MSI.
The GH60 supports both a 4 pole 3.5mm jack for your smart device as well as including a splitter cable for your PC. The cable is braided with quite a stiff rough braiding which feels like it will last a long time rather than fray as some of the softer types can do. Obviously balancing longevity and comfort is a matter of personal taste, but given the life span of a headset we prefer ruggedness.
The in-line remote is of a similar style as the rest of the plastics on the GH60. A little square and the plastics feel a little cheap for our liking, particularly at this price. But it does the job, and perhaps you prefer a utilitarian design.
