NZXT Capsule Elite Microphone Review

We’ve opened four boxes for todays NZXT ‘Elite’ range launch, and all of them have been excellent. The Capsule Elite is no exception. Clear product imagery allied to a robust box leaves you in no doubt as to what you’re getting, nor that it will arrive in mint condition.
The Capsule Elite is nice and simple. You have the microphone itself, a weighty stand to bolt it to, and the connection cable. You don’t need anything else. If you’ve seen the regular NZXT Capsule microphone then this new Elite one really shows off as a big step up.
We’ve tried to show how thin the membrane is surrounding the 25mm Cardiod capsule. It is akin to some low denier nylons. Almost sheer.
Stand and Adjustments
Bolting it to the base is easy, and requires no extra tools. You could, as we’ll see soon, put the Capsule Elite on a boom arm if you have one. Fortunately the supplied stand is weighty enough that no matter where you position the microphone it will stay in place.
See. You can have it straight up, or tilted away from you. However, if you’ve a boom arm, or a setup that would best work this way, you can rotate the Capsule Elite across a 180° arc.
Front and centre is the gain dial. Pressing it mutes the Capsule Elite. In a similar manner to the Roccat Torch the light bar fills in depending upon how high you’ve gone. We love a visual representation of settings. It’s just so much more immediate than having to delve into the software to check out your levels.
On the back there are the two main connections. USB Type-C which attaches the NZXT Capsule Elite to your system, and a 3.5mm jack for your headphones. You can also see the headphone gain knob poking out from the side. We love onboard controls.
If you press the gain knob you mute the microphone and, continuing the user-focused trend we’ve seen so far, a big red bar appears. You’ll never be accidentally muted again.
Lastly the back of the Capsule Elite lights up. You can adjust this with the CAM software we’ll see on the next page. Whilst the boom arm isn’t included in the package, you can see how adaptable the NZXT Capsule Elite is. You could start with it on your desk and, if it proves something you use a lot, grab an affordable boom arm and be up and running immediately.
