Whenever a company designs something which proves to be hugely successful it behoves them to stick with that design, and the Arctis range is so light and comfortable that we’re glad the newest 7P headset sticks closely to the Arctis template.

  

Comfort is the cornerstone of any headset and the Arctis 7P has a lot of features to aid wearing it for hours without fatiguing. The adjustable headband helps spread what little weight the Arctis 7P has across the soft band. The earcups are large, deep and the foam itself is very plush and wrapped in a soft cloth that stops you enduring the sweaty ears you can get with leather options.

  

All the controls are on the headset itself. There is a dedicated microphone mute button, locked off scrolling thumb volume wheel – much better to work out where you are than the infinite turning types, and a dedicated sidetone control on the other ear piece. Sidetone affects how much of your own voice is rerouted into your ears, stopping you yelling because you can’t hear yourself.

  

The microphone is full retractable should you prefer not having something sticking out the front when you aren’t talking through it.

  

It’s default positioning is near perfect for the clearest voice quality, although in keeping with SteelSeries excellent design ethos you can place it anywhere you wish and it remains there. Flexible and yet sturdy is a complicated thing to achieve and the mcirophone nails it.

  

Unlike the Arctis Pro the Wireless pairing isn’t on a dedicated button but instead requires a long press of the power button. You can also see the many inputs on the left hand ear piece – right of this picture – for all your connectivity and charging needs.
