AMD Ryzen 5 & 7 CPU Cooler Round Up

AMD Ryzen 5 & 7 CPU Cooler Mega Test

Is my Cooler Ryzen compatible?

Today not all CPU coolers are Ryzen-compatible out of the box, with many coolers either requiring mounting kit upgrades or simply lack any official support for the new platform.

AM4 uses a different mounting solution than AMD’s AM3+/FM2+ socket, with the new socket using a 90mm x 54mm mounting solution instead of AMD’s traditional AM3+ 96mm x 48mm mounting solution. This means that most CPU coolers that use AMD’s old AM3+ mounting holes will not be compatible with Ryzen.

CPU Socket Length     Height
AM2/3/3+ FM2/2+ 96mm 48mm
AM4 90mm 54mm

With AM4 AMD has used the same tab-based mounting solution as AM3+, allowing existing tab-based CPU coolers to be used with AMD’s new AM4 platform. This means that coolers that use AMD’s stock mounting hardware (below right) will work with Ryzen out of the box.

If your CPU supports AMD’s AM3-style clip-mounting mechanism, then your cooler already supports AM4.
