For this collection of tests, the reasons behind our hardware choice should be obvious. For these tests, we have used the OC3D motherboard test rig, using the ASUS ROG CrossHair VI Hero, the most recent Ryzen motherboard that we have reviewed in a chassis and system that is already running and ready for some thermal testing.

With this case,  we will be testing a large variety of CPU both air and AIO water coolers in a temperature controlled room, allowing us to accurately compare and contrast each cooler that we have tested.

At the time of writing, not many CPU coolers support AMD’s AM4 socket out of the box, so we have taken out every AM4-ready CPU cooler that we have close to hand, with all  the coolers in this review either coming with either native AM4 support or support through the use of official mounting kit upgrade packs.
